Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

There are many benefits of using foam sclerotherapy as opposed to liquid sclerotherapy, one of them being that ultrasound can confirm placement of sclerosant within the vein and track it's movement through the venous system. Knowledge of adverse events due to foam sclerotherapy is important, as well as ways to best mitigate these adverse events.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the benefits of UGS vs other options for treatment of venous disease.
  • Apply appropriate techniques of UGS for the treatment of varicose veins and venous ulcers .
  • Understand the potential complications of UGS and strategies for prevention and management of complications.
