Dr. Erin Murphy is certified in general & vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She earned a medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C., and completed a general surgery residency at Univ. of TX Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, TX. She then completed a 1-year research fellowship in vascular surgery at Stanford University, CA, followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at UPENN, Philadelphia earning several awards for vascular and endovascular research.
Dr. Murphy joined the staff at Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute, Atrium Health, in 2017. Previously, she served as an Attending Surgeon at The Rane Center for Venous and Lymphatic Diseases at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Professor/Attending Surgeon at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY.
She is active in clinical trials, has authored >30 papers, 15 editorials & reviews, and 6 book chapters. She has been an invited speaker at >60 national and international meetings including SVS, C3, CX, LINC, VIVA, and VEITH. She is a Fellow of the ACS, ACP, AVF, SVS, and SouthernVasc. and serves as an editorial board member for the J Endovasc Ther and Venous News.
