Spencer received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia studying Cognitive Science, an interdisciplinary major consisting of Neuroscience, Philosophy, Linguistics, Psychology, and Computer Science. Previously, he has worked in clinics and operating rooms at the Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital and at EmergeOrtho. Spencer also spent one year working in the Connelly Lab at UVA, studying epigenetic manipulation of the oxytocin receptor gene in Prairie Voles.
Upon graduating, Spencer spent a year working at Dogwood Health Trust addressing the social determinants of health for people experiencing substance use disorder. He plans to pursue medical school in the future.
