Dr. Gaweesh is a Consultant Vascular Surgery in Egypt and UAE, and Sr. Lecturer in Alexandria University. Finished his clinical training in Alexandria University Hospitals, and then travelled to Charing Cross Hospital, UK where he received his doctorate degree in Vascular Surgery on a joint research on venous disease with Imperial College London.

He developed close relationships with many experts in the field across Europe and the US. Presented in many international as well as national conferences and has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals and is currently a reviewer and member of Editorial board for Phlebology Journal. Participated in many regional and international educational activities and is currently serving as Vice President / Co-founder of Egypt African Venous & Lymphatic Association (EAVLA); Elected faculty member of UIP Engagement Working Group (UIP-EWG) and Executive Board Member of the European College of Phlebology (ECoP).

Having special interest in minimally invasive interventions, he is the co-founder of the “Endovascular Unit in Alexandria University Hospitals” and founder of the first chain of Vein clinics in the Middle East “iVein Clinics" with four branches so far. Dr Gaweesh is a pioneer in deep venous imaging and reconstructions having the largest worldwide series of patients with deep venous obstructions preplanned for intervention by direct CT Venography. He introduced “deep venous reconstructions” for management of chronic venous disease in the region by performing the first iliac vein stent in Egypt in 2007 and the first hybrid venous procedure in 2011.
