My name is Andrew Wickline and I am an orthopedic total joint replacement specialist. Starting in 2015, my team has created one of the lowest cost, lowest narcotic usage, and lowest complication rate programs in the nation. Duting this time, a family member was diagnosed with cancer and treatment left a high risk for lymphedema. While researching prevention, diagnosis, and treatment options for my family, I identified that joint replacement patients have high risk for similar post-surgical lymphedematous changes. After diving head first into a very deep pool, I made some strong connections in the vascular surgery and wound management world and realized that orthopedic surgeons need some retraining. We are excited to share with you our current research in perioperative edema assessment and provide our current insight as to what best-in-class protocols look like. More importantly, by sharing our vision with our vascular and woundcare colleagues, it is my hope that this lecture will be the starting point for additional research and protocol refinement.
