Patient Reported Outcome Measures ( Proms ) and Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) in Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) of the GSV

Introduction, Objectives, and/or Purpose: In the medicine, results of procedures have been measured according to the physicians views.
However, the medical paradigm has evolved from biomedical to bio-psycho-social.
The health definition has changed to a complete state of physical, mental and social well being.
New results measurements have surged focused in the patient: PROMs and PREMs.

Methods: Objetives
Evaluate the results , experience and changes in the quality of life of patients who underwent the EVLA of GSV
Sample: 77 patients.
Inclusion Criteria: Patients older than 18 years old
Intervención: EVLA of the GSV, without active ulcer
Classification of CVD: CEAP
There were not concomitant treatments with the EVLA, to make the results trustworthy.
Our population consisted in an alike varieties group, with no extremes in the CEAP score, age, BMI, Grade of reflux and treated vein, to obtain comparable results.
4 questionnaires were done based in the CIVIQ 20, VCSS score, Numeric scale of pain and ,Global valoration Scale,
They were performed pre procedure, 1 week, and three months later
The averages of the scores were compared through time.

Results: The VCSS went from 6,20 to 4,18
CIVIQ from 50.56 to 23.89.
The pain went from 4,42 to 0,74.
The majority of patients were feeling regular (46.8%) and good (44.2%), 3 months later 37.7% were feeling good, 32.5% excellent and 28.6% very good.
The patient's satisfaction was 97.4%.
According to the VCSS Score, a decrease of all the items after the procedure is seen.
This corresponds to a better quality of life. The same tendency is seen with the CIVIQ 20 Score.
Almost every patient was satisfied with the experience of the procedure (about preparation, time in the OR, ambulatory procedure, after EVLA controls, feeling of safety and confidence in the group .
A 100% of patients were satisfied with the result of the procedure, including the improvement in the Quality of Life and the appearance of the leg

Conclusion(s): The quality of life in patients improved considerably after the procedure.
The results of the procedure based in the outcomes reported by patients were outstanding.
The results based in the experience of the patients were clearly satisfactory
It is essential to adopt the PROM and PREM questionnaires in Phlebological practices to have a better interpretation of the results and in this way we can choose the best therapy applied to patients.
